Dubai, February 17, 2016 – The Fazza Championship for Falconry – ‘Al Hay’ (Live Prey), which is being organised and supervised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC), shall kick off today (Thursday) with participants competing in two categories – ‘Shaheen Wahsh Farkh’ and ‘Tibah Wahash Farkh.’
A registration centre had been open at Global Village for Emirati falconers and Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) nationals in the build-up to the 12th edition of this event, with interested parties able to apply either via the means of the official social media platforms or by using the F3 Championship app that has been specially designed by the organisers at the HHC.
Those meticulous preparations have now been completed and it is expected that around 700 participants will be attending this three-day competition in the Seeh Al Dahl area of Dubai.
Today (Thursday) is dedicated to participants from Dubai and the Northern Emirates, with the weekend set aside for GCC nationals and Emirati falconers from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region on Friday and Saturday respectively.
This tournament regularly attracts the finest species of falcon and the most skilled falconers when it comes to hunting, which – of course – was one of the means of livelihood across the Arabian Gulf back in the olden days.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee has pledged to provide all of the necessary requirements to the assembled contestants – from wireless tracking devices, bird feed and the allocation of sufficient time from one falconer to another – to improve the performance levels overall.
